KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A new entertainment venue is coming to Woodland Mall in Kentwood.

Main Event will feature laser tag, interactive video games, bowling, arcade games and billiards, the mall announced Wednesday. There will also be a restaurant, a bar and private rooms to rent with space to hold events like birthday parties and corporate events.

“There’s fun and activities for all ages,” Mikia Ross, the interim senior marketing director at Woodland Mall, said.

Main Event has locations across the country, but this will be its first center in Michigan. Construction is underway and the venue is set to open in the summer of 2024.

The 49,000-square foot building will be on a separate piece of land next to Woodland Mall, near Von Maur.

Ross said Main Event will be “a step into the new transformation of Woodland Mall to an experiential destination for shoppers.”

She said shoppers no longer want to go to the mall just to shop. Instead, they’re looking for an experience.

“People want to spend the day at the mall now,” she said. “It gives us an opportunity where you can shop, throw those bags in the car, come right back in, grab something to eat, go to the movies. … Next summer, you will be able to have a whole experience as well.”
